Nails grow from the matrix beneath the skin at the base of the nail. Because new nail must physically grow forward, visible change is gradual.

Fingernails generally grow faster than toenails. Age, health, trauma and other factors can influence growth rate.

Why this matters for product claims

Any claim of dramatic structural nail transformation in a very short period should be viewed in the context of normal nail growth. A damaged portion does not instantly become new nail.
